Review & Outlook of Taiwan's Flat Panel Display Industry

The overall output value of Taiwan's flat panel display industry in Q1 2015 was NT$331.47 billion, a 10.6% decrease compared to the previous quarter. Out of NT$331.47 billion, the production value of the display panels was NT$221.81 billion, a 9.52% decrease from the previous quarter. The principal segment of the panel display industry was the large size TFT LCD panel industry, which witnessed an output value of NT$170.4 billion. The next largest segment was the small/medium TFT LCD panel industry, with an output value of NT$48.1 billion. The output value of the TN/STN panels was NT$1.49 billion, while that of the OLED was NT$1.71 billion. The total output value of key components was NT$109.66 billion, a decline of 12.8% from the previous quarter. Of which, the output value of color filters was NT$22.85 billion, NT$20.71 billion for the polarizer industry, NT$33.51 billion for the glass substrates industry, and NT$32.59 billion for the backlight units industry.
