There are approximately six thousand food factories in Taiwan, with 125,000 employees and an output value of NT$ 654.2 billion in 2014; the output value is ranked eighth in the manufacturing industry. The products mainly met Taiwanese market needs, and the export value was NT$ 73.6 billion , accounting for 11.3% of the output. On the other hand, the amount of imports was NT$ 208.6 billion, accounting for 26.4 % of the processed food market demand.
