Mobile network in China has been growing fast over the last few years. It has in turn triggered fast growth in the number of mobile communication users. To quickly upgrade 2G users to 3G and 4G, the three major telecommunication service providers have introduced a more diversified range of mobile service plans and raised device subsidies as part of mobile services promotion. According to statistics released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China, as of the end of May 2014, there were a total of 472 million 3G and 4G mobile users in China, which was 37.6% of the total number of mobile users (1.25 billion) and suggested a large growth potential.
