美國國家標準與技術研究院(National Institute of Standards and Technology, NIST)於2019年8月9日提出「聯邦政府發展AI技術標準與相關工具計畫」(U.S. LEADERSHIP IN AI: A Plan for Federal Engagement in Developing Technical Standards and Related Tools)，建議聯邦政府應更加深入、持續且長期地投入於AI技術開發領域，透過加強與產業、學界以及標準制定組織(SDOs)間的合作。
