The prime global economic issue in 2019 was the China-U.S. trade war owing to the United States’ countermeasure against China’s unfair trade and theft of intellectual property by imposing tariffs on Chinese imports. The China-U.S. trade war has significantly impacted the global economy and reshaped global supply chains, driving manufacturers shift back to their home countries. On the other hand, the U.S. renegotiated the trade agreements with Turkey, India, Thailand, and other major trading partners. The relevant trade measures not only affected the growth of global economy, but gradually diminished the economic benefits followed by the large-scale tax cuts rolled out by the U.S. government, resulting in falling corporate investments and economic slowdown in the U.S. The economy in Europe was also affected by the China-U.S. trade war on top of Brexit and the weak economy in Germany. Consequently European manufacturers faced multiple challenges under the economic fluctuations and policy uncertainties, resulting in weakening economic momentum in Euro zone.
