According to IEK, in the second quarter, 2010 gross industrial output of the medical device industry reached NTD$17 billion, or 18.1% growth from the first quarter of 2010. Boosted by strong demand in the traditional medical device market, gross industrial output is forecast to reach NTD$17.6 billion in the third quarter. As for annual gross industrial output, it is expected to grow to NTD$64 billion in 2010, or 13.1% growth from 2009, since economic recovery is now underway in Europe and the US with strong demand for medical devices in the Chinese market.
