The progress and innovation of the technology has driven the world entering an era that cooperation and communications of multi-cultures should be treated as a basis for the development. The expandable industrial potential market also draws the increasing competitive challenges. Facing the era of micro-profit competitions, the industry has to create the industrial advantages and upgrade the added values in the global industrial value chain. It is an inevitable direction that the industry not only has to do a more aggressive research & development, but also improve the work of innovation and integration crossing the industries.
Moving from “Technology” toward “Innovation”, the industry has to expand the traditional research philosophy to a series of activities in the value chain, such as life trend analysis, industrial technology forecast, technology development, applied research, prototype design, intellectual management, system services, business model design, brand names, marketing and customer services. The objective is to upgrade Taiwan’s industry from a manufacturing oriented pattern to a knowledge-oriented model that could create the breakthroughs in the innovation.
As such, Industrial Technology Department under Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) has sponsored Industrial Technology Intelligence Services (ITIS) Program for years to do the industrial and technology analysis research. The ITIS Program could provide not only the knowledge-based information of technology, market and economic trends but also the integrated professional consulting services Taiwan’s industries, facing the dynamic change of the environment, could use the resulted in-depth research information as the references to do the strategic planning for the business internationalization and business investment with allocated global resources. The information could also be used to enhance the quality of the business planning decision as well as the values of the industrial supply chain. An upgraded industrial innovated face in Taiwan can therefore be expected.
This book entitled of “2007 Taiwan Industrial Outlook” published by ITIS Program has the research information in the selected industries, including the influences of industrial outcomes /major events, industrial trends and future strategic suggestions. The book has the overview about global and domestic economic analysis and major events. In addition, it has 16 chapters, in which each chapter has the contents of the specific industrial research formatted into four major parts namely industrial status, industrial development trend analysis, major events with the impact analysis, followed by the conclusions. The purpose of this book is providing the industries with the intelligent knowledge of Taiwanese industrial development and the international competitiveness to assure the success in the identified business opportunities.
